Biography
Born in La Linea, Cadiz, Spain, the family migrated to Australia in 1965 where they currently reside. Manuel developed a passion for opera as music has always played a major part in his life.
Commencing studies at the Melba Conservatory, Melbourne, and continued vocal studies with Carmen Sensaud and coach Maestro Armando Victor Krieger, Manuel is currently enjoying great success in opera productions, and concerts both here and in Europe. As a solo artist he covers the most popular arias, Neapolitan songs and has an extensive Spanish repertoire.
In 2002, debuting in Tosca, Melbourne, and performed in the city of Sulmona and Empoli and as a solo artist in the Enrico Caruso Hall, Firenze.
2003 season, Manuel sung in La Traviata, Melbourne, sung in Turandot at Fiesole, Firenze, Corvo della Collina, Rome, Arrezzo, and also in Ragusa, Caltanizetta and Agusta, Sicily; in Il Trovatore in Castello Della Donna Fugata, Sicily; in Madama Butterfly in Val Verde, Pavia and Firenze. In December, Manuel sung at The Author’s Hall in Rome, and was invited as a juror at the Vincenzo Bellini Competition in Caltanizetta, Sicily.
Engagements in 2004 included Madama Butterfly in Melbourne, Australia; a Concert at the Star Class World Championship at Gaeta, Italy; Mozart’s Requiem, at The Vatican for the Easter festival; Opera Norma, as Flavio and in Carmen, as Morales in Rome; at The Euro Mediterranean Festival, at Tivoli, Rome celebrating an Australian Gala Opera Night concert and in concert in Australia, he has sung together with Maria Dragoni and Antonio Ordonez.
Manuel’s delight for opera prompted him to create and establish the Puccini Festival in Australia, and for the very first time, the Puccini Festival Foundation, Torre del Lago, Italy was invited to come to Australia with the production of Turandot.
2005, his commitments include concerts and operas in Melbourne, Italy, and Spain and for the first time in South East Asia, Vietnam and Singapore.
